The third oldest town in the country. The name Paarl derived from “Perel” meaning Pearl in Dutch. This refers to the large pearl shaped granite rock on the Paarl Mountain.
Cape Dutch and Victorian Buildings are situated alongside a 12km long main road which is the longest in the country!
The oldest Dutch reformed church is situated here and is still in use in South Africa named “Strooidak Church”.
